Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs


The worst part about making hard boiled eggs is when the shell sticks to the egg and you end up with mangled eggs that do not make for a pretty presentation when serving deviled eggs. I have tried all sorts of supposed solutions (baking in the oven, adding vinegar, etc) but none of them worked. What did work? The Instant Pot! So once you have one, you can forever more make perfect hard boiled eggs in just minutes. Obviously, you should read the instruction manual for the Instant Pot first as this is not complete directions on using the pot.


Place eggs on the rack insert of your Instant Pot.


Add 1 cup of water.

Close the lid and make sure the valve is closed.

Using the manual setting, set the time to 6 minutes.

While the eggs are cooking get a large bowl of ice water ready.

When the timer beeps release pressure valve (use a hot mitt!!) and open the top.

Remove eggs from pot with tongs and place in the bowl of ice water. Wait 5-7 minutes.

Remove from water and peel. Perfect!
